{"id":11879,"date":"2022-06-13T14:35:11","date_gmt":"2022-06-13T12:35:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iamip.com\/?post_type=docs&#038;p=11879"},"modified":"2022-06-13T15:06:14","modified_gmt":"2022-06-13T13:06:14","slug":"application-number","status":"publish","type":"docs","link":"https:\/\/iamip.com\/de\/wiki\/application-number\/","title":{"rendered":"Application Number"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The application number is the number assigned to a patent application when it is filed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The application number for the majority of countries is made up of a <a href=\"https:\/\/worldwide.espacenet.com\/help?locale=en_WO&amp;method=handleHelpTopic&amp;topic=countrycodes\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">country code <\/a>(two letters), the year of filing (four digits), and a serial number (variable, maximum seven digits). A serial number having fewer than seven digits may be rounded up to seven digits by adding zeros (eg GB19950008026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alternatively, the zeros may be omitted entirely (eg GB19958026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are twelve countries\/organisations which use another format, namely Australia, Germany, China, Brazil, Ukraine, Gulf Council, Hungary, India, Italy, Mexico, OAPI and the WIPO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this case, the application number is made up of :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>a country code (two letters)<\/li><li>the year of filing (four digits)<\/li><li>&#8220;other&#8221; information (one or two characters)<\/li><li>a numerical digit (five to six)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a fixed length of 13 characters, excluding the <a href=\"https:\/\/iamip.com\/wiki\/kind-codes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">kind code<\/a> and where appropriate the fixed length is achieved by inserting leading zeroes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The application number is the number assigned to a patent application when it is filed.
