Dr. Heiner Flocke
CEO of iC-Haus GmbH &President of patentverein.de
Dr Heiner Flocke is shareholder/managing director of iC-Haus GmbH in Germany. After completing his doctorate at RWTH Aachen University on semiconductor circuit technology, he founded iC-Haus GmbH in Bodenheim in 1984. His personal technical commitment is to system issues, technological interfaces with iCs and patenting. Flocke is chairman of patentverein.de e.V., founded in 2003 as an initiative of innovative medium-sized companies for patent quality and against patent abuse.
Dr. Maximilian Knaus
Partner at WSL Patentanwälte mbBMaximilian has a degree in Chemistry Studies from the University of Heidelberg and Technical University in Munich and a PhD in Macromolecular Chemistry from the Technical University of Munich. He's specialized as a German and European Patent Attorney and European Patent Litigator from the University of Strasbourg. Currently a Partner at WSL Patent Attorneys, Wiesbaden.

The chore content will be revolving around the daily work with IamIP as well as using all the different tools, which IamIP provides, whereas the focus will point out the work with the monitoring function and the different portfolio options the in-house IP Managers are using in cooperation with the R&D.

Patentverein.de e.V. has been working as a self-help organisation of the industry since 2003 and supports the patent system in meeting quality requirements. It advocates discussions and reforms of patent law practice and opposes trivial patents and abuse in the patent system. The Patent Association is in favour of patenting good inventions in the sense of the Patent Act and calls for a fair patent system that is reliable for inventors, applicants and defendants.
The lecture will address the current patent jurisdiction with disputes from practice, the reforms in the 2nd Patent Modernisation Act (2.PatMoG), in particular for the synchronisation of infringement and patent proceedings. This reflects the draft bill already introduced by the Patent Association in 2011, ``Provisional legal protection against the grant of a patent`` with the demand to make the stay in infringement proceedings the rule until the validity of a patent is decided.
The introduction of the EU patent, which has meanwhile taken place, is also dealt with in this context, with the unified court UPC, which brings technical expertise to a simultaneous court decision on infringement and validity.
In the thicket of patent flood and threats with a multifaceted jurisdiction, defence positions against patent attacks are shown, which are particularly aimed at medium-sized participants in the patent system.
